  
Horses come to Horse Hearts of America from many different sources; however, a large number of our horses are owner surrenders. These horses are turned over by owners who can no longer care for them. Surrendering your horse can be a very difficult decision to make, and we respect that. We are happy to answer questions you may have to help you make an informed decision.

We are an private organization dedicated to saving horses from neglect, abuse, and slaughter. Every day thousands of horses across America die for no reason. We are funded only by donations and out of pocket funds. We intend to educate people on the horrors that these magnificent creatures endure. In doing so we hope that more of you will help do your parts in ending this atrocity.

We arrived Sunday night at 7:00 ,We went straight to the auction to make sure we had the proper directions for morning.When we arrived Sunday night there were horses being unloaded ,we asked if this was the New Holland Auction, they replied yes ,we told them who we were and our mission, They stopped unloading the horses and were chatting among themselves, it was now clear we where not welcomed there at this time.Monday morning ,we are now at the auction looking over 250 horses, all ages ,all breeds, all genders , riding horses ,selling from $135.00 to $400.00 ,minis, pony's.....$35.00 to $145.00 .! 250horses where sold ,145 horses where sold to the meat men, These horses are piled on the trailers ,horse after horse,no water ,no food, nothing ,not a inch to move. In the U.S.A horse slaughter is banned,but what about the trailers taking these horses to slaughter in such a inhumane way???? Where is the law for these trailers?Needless to say Horse Hearts purchased a 7 month old stallion foal who was heading to slaughter, he will be up for adoption soon. We will be visiting New Holland again in the near future. Please help end this do not send your horses to auctions,Call your local rescue.

Rescuing, rehabilitating, and
finding loving homes for these
horses is an incredibly rewarding
experience. However, it is also
extremely expensive. It takes
thousands monthly to purchase,
feed and house these animals.
Intensive care vet bills can be
staggering and normal routine
costs in rescue work are financially draining. Horse Hearts of America is
